Mr. Yasir Ashfaq,

Yasir Ashfaq has almost three decades of experience and has served as Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company (PMIC) since August 2017. He leads a national apex institution that expands responsible finance for low-income households and microenterprises, especially women, supporting job creation and more resilient livelihoods. His work spans building market ecosystems, institutions, and delivery partnerships across microfinance banks and MFIs, fintechs, DFIs, regulators, credit bureaus, and key service providers to strengthen governance, risk management, and sector capacity. Previously, at the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), he managed development grant portfolios across livelihoods, health, education, and social mobilization, bringing a holistic lens to financial inclusion programs. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions in commercial and investment banking, with experience in treasury, corporate finance, and finance & accounts. Yasir serves on national financial inclusion committees with the State Bank of Pakistan and SECP. As Chairman of the NBFI & Modaraba Association of Pakistan, he represents the sector on policy, regulatory engagement, and market development. He also chairs the Pakistan Microfinance Review Editorial Board, guiding evidence-based sector learning and thought leadership. He is an FCMA, holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of Sydney, and has completed executive training at leading global institutions.
