Deborah Drake
Personal Information
Deborah Drake is an independent consultant who has worked in financial inclusion for over 30 years. Her experience reaches across investments and corporate governance, assessments and ratings, investor engagement, capacity building, and research in the areas of inclusive financial services. She currently serves on several boards of directors. She directs the Financial Inclusion Equity Council (FIEC), a member forum of private entities that make equity investments in financial inclusion in emerging markets. Hosted by Cerise+SPTF, FIEC collaborates with the Social Investor Working Group, comprised primarily of debt investors. Spending most of her career at Accion, a nonprofit organization on a mission to create a fair and inclusive economy, she managed teams carrying out investor engagement, research, and governance efforts to strengthen the inclusive finance ecosystem. She created and directed the Africa Board Fellowship Program dedicated to strengthening governance for more than 300 board directors of financial institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
