Personal Information

Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Executive Director of UCEP Bangladesh, has 47 years of experience in government, development, and corporate sectors. He served as Principal Secretary, Home Secretary, Commerce Secretary, and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for the Government of Bangladesh. Post-retirement, he held leadership roles at BRAC, Green Delta Insurance, IPDC Finance Ltd., and PKSF—Bangladesh’s apex microcredit and capacity-building organization. Dr. Karim currently serves as President of the Chittagong University Alumni Association, President of the Bangladesh Scouts Foundation, and Advisory Board Member at the Asian University for Women. He has lectured widely and represented Bangladesh at numerous international summits, including COP, Global Microcredit Summits, and UN LDC/D-8 meetings. An author and thought leader, Dr. Karim has written on sustainable development, environment, climate change, and women’s empowerment. He also developed a Sustainable Poverty Reduction Model tailored for Bangladesh’s socioeconomic context.
