Mr. Anura H. Athapththuge

Mr. Anura H. Athapththuge is the Chairman of the Berendina Group in Sri Lanka, with over 36 years of experience in poverty alleviation, microfinance, and MSME development. He has worked with leading global institutions including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Women’s World Banking, and CGAP. He holds an MBA from the University of Lincoln (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Development, a B.Sc. in Agriculture (Special) from the University of Ruhuna, and a certificate in Agriculture Extension and Rural Development from the University of Reading (UK). Mr. Anura has served as President and Director of LMFPA, Sri Lanka’s microfinance industry association. He also contributed to national policy as a member of the government-appointed committee for the Microfinance and Credit Regulatory Authority Act. His leadership roles include serving as Director of SEEDS and SAMN, and as Founding Chairman of Development Facilitators Limited.
