Dr Alok Misra,
CEO & Director Microfinance Industry Network
Dr. Alok Misra brings over three decades of experience in international development, rural
finance, microfinance, and inclusive finance, with contributions spanning policy,
regulation, and implementation.
Beginning his career with NABARD in 1992, Dr Misra played a key role in establishing
India’s first online demutualized commodities exchange, NCDEX.
In 2008, transitioning to a global role, he has providing policy and advisory support across
24 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Pacific.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Misra served as a Professor and Chairperson at the School of
Public Policy & Governance at MDI, Gurgaon.
He has served on the boards of MFIN and Vaya Finserv and on NABARD’s strategic group
on microfinance & authored several publications and reports, including the "Inclusive
Finance India report" for several years.
Dr Misra holds a PhD in Development Studies from Victoria University of Wellington,
along with Master's in Development Management from the Asian Institute of
Management, Manila. He is a Fellow in the ‘Fletcher Leadership Program for Financial
Inclusion’ from Tufts University and also underwent training at Harvard Business School
in "Strategic Leadership for Microfinance".
