Rashid Bajwa leads NRSP, Pakistan's largest rural development organization, established in 1991 as a not-for-profit under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance. NRSP received the "Best Non-Banking Finance Company Award" in 2023 for its exceptional microfinance services. Dr. Bajwa initiated an Agriculture Value Chain company to integrate small farmers into Sugar cane and Rice verticals. He founded NRSP Micro Finance Bank, now the third largest in Pakistan with 145 branches, holding an “Islamic Micro Banking License”. Dr. Bajwa chaired Pakistan Mercantile Exchange and served on the State Bank of Pakistan’s rural finance committee. He chaired Pakistan Micro Finance Network and served on boards including Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim and Fauji Foods. Awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan for public service, the investiture ceremony is scheduled on Pakistan Day, March 23, 2024. Dr. Bajwa, an ex-member of the Pakistan Administrative Service, holds a Master’s in Public Health from Nuffield Institute of Health, Leeds UK, and is a graduate of King Edward Medical College.
