Malik Asif Russd is the Chief Executive Officer Designate of BRAC Kenya Company Limited, the newest subsidiary of BRAC International Microfinance (BI MF). Based in Nairobi, he is guiding the company through the licensing process and leading its market entry strategy, including the design of a hybrid digital, credit-only model tailored to Kenya’s financial ecosystem. With over a decade of experience in microfinance leadership across Africa and Asia, he has been central to BI MF’s expansion into new markets. He spearheaded the establishment of a regulated Savings and Loans company in Ghana and provided strategic and technical guidance to multiple subsidiaries, enhancing operational systems and governance. Earlier, he played a pivotal role in transforming BI MF’s entities in Uganda and Sri Lanka into licensed, deposit-taking institutions. He began his career at BRAC Bangladesh in 2010 after working in tech. Mr. Russd holds a BSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from BRAC University and has completed executive programs at Harvard Kennedy School and the Boulder Institute.
